Festival entrepreneurs The Good Guys normally take care of very practical matters at festivals, including handling the coins. Director Michael van Elswijk saw that using a debit card was becoming increasingly popular at festivals and thanks to the ever-improving internet infrastructure, it is now possible to use a debit card at the bar, just like in a pub. That is why he founded Moneycomb. ‘The debit cards at the bar run on WiFi, but if that does not work, we can now switch to a 4G chip.’ That does not mean that cash has completely disappeared from the festival grounds. ‘There will still be one box open where you can put cash on a special card, which you can then use as a debit card.’
