Interview BNR: The end of the clumsy festival tokens

Festival entrepreneurs The Good Guys normally take care of very practical matters at festivals, including handling the coins. Director Michael van Elswijk saw that using a debit card was becoming increasingly popular at festivals and thanks to the ever-improving internet infrastructure, it is now possible to use a debit card at the bar, just like in a pub. That is why he founded Moneycomb. ‘The debit cards at the bar run on WiFi, but if that does not work, we can now switch to a 4G chip.’ That does not mean that cash has completely disappeared from the festival grounds. ‘There will still be one box open where you can put cash on a special card, which you can then use as a debit card.’
